Australian Migration Lawyers states that it offers a free initial consultation for onshore protection visas, family visas and section 501 character matters, subject to its terms and conditions, and that it does not offer free consultations for skilled visas, as published on its website on 18 and 19 October 2026. Send an enquiry to Australian Migration Lawyers using the form on this page.
This page sets out the terms for the free initial consultation offered by the firm that Best Migration Lawyer Brisbane recommends. A free consultation is not free ongoing representation.
Who qualifies for a free initial consultation?
| Matter type | Free initial consultation |
|---|---|
| Onshore protection visas | Offered, with terms |
| Family visas | Offered, with terms |
| Section 501 character matters | Offered, with terms |
| Skilled visas | Not offered |
| Other matters | Not offered unless the firm advertises it |
Section 501 character matters are visa refusals or cancellations under section 501 of the Migration Act. Source: the firm’s terms and conditions, clause 8, and its website, checked 19 and 18 October 2026. The firm says it may change eligible visa types at any time.
What does the free consultation cover?
The firm states that its purpose is to identify whether you may be eligible for a particular visa, or have reasonable prospects of seeking review or appeal of an adverse decision.
The offer applies only where you genuinely intend to consider engaging the firm. It is not for obtaining free information or answers to specific questions.
How is a Brisbane consultation arranged?
- Send the enquiry on this page.
- The firm’s Client Executive team qualifies the request. It confirms your identity, your good-faith interest in engaging the firm and your capacity to meet Home Affairs fees.
- Lawyer availability decides what follows. The firm states that the offer may be suspended, or you may be placed on a waitlist, in periods of high demand.

What happens if further legal work is needed?
The firm states that a fixed-fee quote comes before work starts, with fees set out in a fee agreement and billed as a fixed fee with milestones. Its terms state that a Costs Agreement and Disclosure Statement is provided before substantive work. Instalments of 3 to 6 months are available in some cases. A partner visa with Australian Migration Lawyers usually costs $14,000 plus GST.
Government and third-party fees, such as visa application charges, medicals and police checks, are separate, and the firm’s terms say it never covers or refunds them. The homepage sets out the fee model in full.
What should be confirmed before the appointment?
- Whether your matter is one of the three covered types.
- Whether you will attend in person, online or by telephone.
- Whether any documents are needed.
